Art Institute of Chicago

Went on a field trip to the Art Institute of Chicago today for my Spanish 4 class. We’ve been studying art in class so we got to look at some of the art of which we’d seen photos up close and personal. Not only did we miss all but one period of the day, but it wasn’t such a bad trip – art isn’t completely horrible. It was especially cool seeing the art we’d seen before, but with greater detail because it was right in our faces. Sure, some of the art there is perverted and I would prefer to just kinda not get so up close with that, but otherwise it was pretty cool.

Now I’m really tired – sleeping only a little really gets to ya. Maybe I’ll take a nap later today.

Illinois FBLA SLC

I got back a little while ago from the Illinois FBLA (Future Business Leaders of American) State Leadership Conference, where I competed in the web site development competition with Stan and Brian Nelson. We actually completed the web site about a month ago, as we were required to “turn it in” and make no further changes after February 28. Well it turned out that we won first place, which means we get to go to the National Leadership Conference in June, which is being held this year in Dallas. Seeing as I’ve never been to Texas, that should be an interesting experience and, as always, an enjoyable trip. Due to the fact that we don’t want to give the competition an advantage by allowing them to see our web site, I am not placing a link to it. After the NLC, I’ll do that, though, so you all can see it.

One more day of spring break left Blogger Smiley. Oh well, the FBLA conference was nice – it was the first break I’ve had all week, as I’ve been very busy with a variety of activities.

More Content

I’ve added some more content to the site in the writings and resources sections. To the resources section, I added a whole bunch of C++ code I wrote last year in AP Computer Science and to the writings section, I added five to ten documents I have written for school in the past few months.

Enjoy!

New Site is Up!

I just “completed” the new site. In actuality, a web site is never really complete, but I guess what I mean by this is that the major portions (guestbook, news/blogger) are both integrated into the new layout and most of the content is in here as well. There’s still content that needs to be added, espeically in the “Resources” section of the site. Hopefully, I’ll be able to expand this section, as well as the writings one (I’ve written a few essays that aren’t posted on there) in the upcoming weeks.

Enjoy the new site and be sure to contact me at once if you find any glitches!

New Site

I woke up at 8 am this morning – early for being on spring break – so I could hurry to the library and do some research in about an hour and a half for a project for spanish class and then I went off to Chicago with some of my homies. We helped a friend out with his computer, fixed up a few bugs in it – well actually formatted the whole thing. We were going to go see the war protesters but ran out of time, so we didn’t.

Well anyway, as you can tell, I had a “full” day today and didn’t get much of a chance to work on the new layout earlier today. I’ve been working the past few hours on it while voice chatting with Stan and it’s nearly complete. Just a few more finishing touches that I will hopefully be able to put on tomorrow and it’ll be all set. Hopefully, I’ll get it up before I go to the Illinois FBLA State Leadership Conference early Friday.

Well I’m off to the bathroom to shower and then bed…

New Site

Monday night as I was about to go to bed, I thought up a new layout for this site. Yesterday I worked nearly all day on it and it’s nearing completion. There are a few things here and there I have yet to do. Because of the integration of some parts of the current site into the new site, you may experience difficulty signing the guestbook or replying to my news posts.

Check back within the next few days to see the new site!

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas…Remember what it’s really about!!!!!

Luke 2:1-20 NASB
Now in those days a decree went out from Caesar Augustus, that a census be taken of all the inhabited earth. This was the first census taken while Quirinius was governor of Syria. And everyone was on his way to register for the census, each to his own city. Joseph also went up from Galilee, from the city of Nazareth, to Judea, to the city of David which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and family of David, in order to register along with Mary, who was engaged to him, and was with child. While they were there, the days were completed for her to give birth. And she gave birth to her firstborn son; and she wrapped Him in cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn. In the same region there were some shepherds staying out in the fields and keeping watch over their flock by night. And an angel of the Lord suddenly stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them; and they were terribly frightened. But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be for all the people; for today in the city of David there has been born for you a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. “This will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.” And suddenly there appeared with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying, “Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace among men with whom He is pleased.” When the angels had gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds began saying to one another, “Let us go straight to Bethlehem then, and see this thing that has happened which the Lord has made known to us.” So they came in a hurry and found their way to Mary and Joseph, and the baby as He lay in the manger. When they had seen this, they made known the statement which had been told them about this Child. And all who heard it wondered at the things which were told them by the shepherds. But Mary treasured all these things, pondering them in her heart. The shepherds went back, glorifying and praising God for all that they had heard and seen, just as had been told them.

What happened to me?

Those of you who check out this site on a regular basis are probably asking yourselves what happened to me. I just checked and the last post I made pertaining to what’s going on in my life was August 23. I should really try and post more frequently, but unfortunately school and my other activities are keeping me busy. In addition to the loads of assignments for my classes – mostly for English – I’ve been working on the school extracurricular web site, various FBLA projects, and an assortment of other computer related projects. Sadly, all these wonderful (except for school) activities are keeping my busier than I want to be and I find myself constantly dreaming of a break from this chaos. Oh well, before I know it, I’ll have a break, I just have to be patient.

Besides being busy with all the stuff I mentioned, some other cool stuff has been happening in my life. I applied to the software engineering program at MSOE (Milwaukee School of Engineering) and got accepted. Additionally, I was named student of the month for the month of September, which is really an awesome honor.

I can’t remember if I ever mentioned it, but another project on which I have been working is a new layout for this site. Well, the layout has been done for a while, it’s just taking time to dump content into it – putting the content together, writing stuff, and all that. I’ve gotten pretty far, but it still looks like it could be a while before I get the thing up. Sorry, folks – I’m not going to let you preview it, as I’d like it to be new to everyone all at once!

One last thing – I’d like to thank all of you who visited the site in Miss Blume’s and Ms. Stricher’s classes for checking it out. People seemed to like it, which is cool!

One last thing – I promise – no more after this…There’s been some interesting discussion in my guestbook fairly recently, if you’re interested in deep philosophical/religious debates, you may wanna check out the guestbook!

Ok well off to studying….God bless!

September 11 Memoriam

As we near the one year anniversary of the September 11 attacks, the sights, sounds, and horrors of the attacks still loom greatly in many people’s lives. Through this, though, if we trust in Jesus, He will see us through ALL our troubles. No matter how big your problems seem, no matter what you go through, no matter how hard and unending your problems seem, you can cast your cares on Him and He will carry you.

In remembrance of those who went to meet their Maker one year ago, some friends and I have put together a flash presentation. Though it is large and takes a while to load, it is definitely worth the wait. Even if you know no one who died in the tragic events, please check it out.
The following are links to the presentation. You need only select one; multiple sites are listed in order to prevent the load from getting too large on one server and also to provide a location nearest to you.
