Graduation Practice

I had to get up at 6:50 this moring to attend the 7:15 Senior breakfast/graduation practice. I hung out with Stan and his cousin afterward for a while, ate lunch at Happy House (a hot dog place here in town) where I learned that Chicagoans aren’t supposed to put ketchup on their hot dogs. I can’t see why – I myself don’t like ketchup, but my parents have always put it on their hot dogs. Stan was teasing his cousin about getting ketchup….it doesn’t make sense to me. I guess it’s like the whole pop/soda/coke deal. Although that one is more clear cut. It IS and always will be pop. In the afternoon, I went to my friend Sarah’s house for her graduation party and hung out there for a few hours. Then, this evening I went back over to Stan‘s and hung out with his family and a few other friends. Pretty packed day, if you ask me…I’m about ready to get some sleep.

My Commencement ceremonies are tomorrow at 2pm, but I’ve got to arrive at 12:30, a whole hour and a half ahead of time. Hopefully I can find one of my friends to talk to so the time doesn’t pass so slowly.

Done

Well I’ve been officially done with high school for a few days now – since Wednesday. Sure, I’ve still got graduation, but that’s just a ceremony.

Yesterday in the wee hours of the morning, myself and about 100 other seniors showed up to the high school to decorate “senior hall,” the hallway that contains the seniors’ lockers. At first, it was a little crazy – the troublesome 1% showed up, one of them wearing rollerblades and carrying a hockey stick, and broke a window – but it turned out great. Afterwards, up through 1pm, we had a picnic/cookout type deal out on the football field. It was pretty good stuff. It was like a typical high school party, except we had permission and there wasn’t alcohol.

Then, last night we had Senior Honor night, where I got a whole bunch of awards. The ceremony was a bit long, but the awards pretty much made up for that downside.

Tomorrow, I’ve got a Senior breakfast and graduation practice, then Sunday at 2pm is the Commencement ceremony. Hopefully it won’t be too long…

Almost There…

Less than three days left!
Friday, May 23 – 5 hour day.
Tuesday, May 27 – full day. exams hours 1-3
Wednesday, May 28 – 5 hour day. exams hours 4-10.
Thursday, May 29 – Senior prank day/picnic. Evening: Honors Night
Sunday, June 1 – Graduation

So close and yet it seems so far away. I’ve got so much to do these next few days. I’ve got to read Heart of Darkness for my English final, write a 1-2 pg analysis/thing for Little Big Man, write a whole bunch for my government final, prepare for my Calculus final, and that’s all I can think of now. It’s late and my sister got out of the shower so I can use the bathroom now.

Have a nice weekend!

7 Days of School Left

Well actually, it’s only about five full days, a 5-hour day, and another 5-hour day, so it’s closer to six days left.

I just finished adding a few items to the Writings section of the site – some speeches about Abortion, the Death Penalty, and Stem Cell Rearch, an essay about Ernest Gaines’ novel, A Lesson Before Dying, and another document or two.

A friend and I just started up a Christian discussion board for teenagers – both Christians and non-Christians and we’re now working on promoting it, encouraging people to use it, and so forth. If you’re even the least bit interested, check it out at http://ctz.erichmusick.com

AP Calculus

Thursday, I took the Calculus BC AP test. After doing the multiple choice, I was feeling great about the test – I answered all but three of the non-calculator questions and was confident in my choices for the rest of the problems. Then I got to the free response portion. Expecting it to be just as easy as the multiple choice, I was shocked when I struggled through each problem. I left a fair amount blank, but answered everything I could, with answers that may not have been perfectly correct, but that showed I knew something about the topic. All in all, I think I did well – hopefully the multiple choice will make up for my poor performace on the free response.

Yesterday was the deadline for work on my web site for the FBLA Web Site Development Team competitive event. I was up to about midnight working on it, putting the finalizing touches on the site. Since the state conference, where we won first place, we have not make many changes to the site – we put information about this year’s state conference and created a “Member Highlights” page, but that’s about it. I’m hoping that, despite the fact that we don’t utilize flash, we will do well in the competition. This will be my third and final year attending the FBLA National Leadership Conference and I’d like to come home with an award for a change. If you’d like to see what we’ve done, you can view the site at http://garagedoor.org/fbla/

This weekend should be good – I slept ’til about 11 this morning, after going to bed at about 1:30am. I’ve only got a small amount of homework which shouldn’t take long at all. I’ve got to work on updating my resumé so I can find a job this summer, but that, too, is almost complete. Hopefully I can just enjoy the weather and relax a little this weekend.

Last Sunday, my neighbors tore down the fence that borders between our back yard and theirs and are currently working on putting up a new, wooden fence. The old fence was all rusted out and looked bad, so putting up a new fence seems like a good idea.

Well that’s about it for now…hopefully I can get on here a little more frequently to post!

Have a nice weekend!

Busy Week

I’ve got a busy week ahead of me. Sure, it’s already 9th hour on Tuesday, but not having school yestrerday makes this feel like the beginning of th week. For English, I’ve got to write a five page literary analysis on Ernest Gaines’ novel, A Lesson Before Dying. In addition to that *exciting* essay, I’ve got to write an inclass essay first hour on Thursday on the same book. Ahh… Then, tomorrow, I’ve got the American Government First Full Session (we have a simulation for American Government class) and I’m speaking against a bill to support government funding of stem cell research. My concern with the issue is primarily that it is no different from abortion – embryos are killed. If it were “adult stem cell” research, I’d have no problem. Just the fact that embryos – unborn human babies – die in the process concerns me greatly. Once I’ve completed the final draft for my speech, I’ll probably throw it on here.

Well I’ve got a few more minutes before I’ve got to go to Calculus. Have a great day!

Happy Easter

Luke 24:1-12
But on the first day of the week, at early dawn, they came to the tomb bringing the spices which they had prepared. And they found the stone rolled away from the tomb, but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. While they were perplexed about this, behold, two men suddenly stood near them in dazzling clothing; and as the women were terrified and bowed their faces to the ground, the men said to them, “Why do you seek the living One among the dead? “He is not here, but He has risen. Remember how He spoke to you while He was still in Galilee, saying that the Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.” And they remembered His words, and returned from the tomb and reported all these things to the eleven and to all the rest. Now they were Mary Magdalene and Joanna and Mary the mother of James; also the other women with them were telling these things to the apostles. But these words appeared to them as nonsense, and they would not believe them. But Peter got up and ran to the tomb; stooping and looking in, he saw the linen wrappings only; and he went away to his home, marveling at what had happened.

Looking for web hosting?

…Definitely DO NOT purchase it from CIHost (or one of their thousands?? of resellers – anything associated with the domain propagation.net … do a whois search on your web host and look for propagation.net in the dns servers before signing with them … – forget it). My friend and I had horrible experience with them not only today, but also in the past week and over the past few months. If you’re looking for quality web hosting, I’d have to recommend the company I’m currently with, ImHosted.com. Their customer support is not only very helpful, but polite, too. They even installed some software on the server because we simply asked them to.

The bottom line -> if you’re looking for affordable, high-quality web hosting, use ImHosted.com!
